Plymouth Savoy 4 door sedan (1954)

A few weeks ago i went to see this Plymouth Savoy with a friends. We heard that the car is for sale (for a not high price) and decided to visit it just only out of curiosity.

The car was compete in 95% and was mostly in original condition. I would buy it if i did not have so many unfinished projects. But i will keep my aye on it, and will try to make it mine at the first opportunity)))

Interior just needs to be cleaned , plus some minor work with dashboard and steering wheel must be done

In my opinion, this car will look cool with a little bit low suspension and with a red old school wheels.

The body looks cool as it is. It is not rusty and doesn’t require full restoration. This blue color is not original, but it looks good. Just needs polishing and a little work in some places.

And the chrome is not bad

I am not a mechanic, but in my eye everything looks pretty solid under the hood too. I know the brake vacuum booster is not original, but it’s not a big deal to find the original one in Ebay. I remember, the last owner told me a few years ago, that they took it from USSR car GAZ24.

So, let’s hope the car will find a good home, and the new owner will take care of him. Or, in the future we will see it car in my list of the projects )) …who knows?

SL450 suspension rebuilding

Just found some photos of last year when we rebuilt the suspension.

All parts were dismantled, sandblasted and painted. Also changed absolutely all rubbers on suspension.

You can see, everything was dismantled.

The rear axle

Loaded on the truck. Sending to sandblasting.

After sandblasting.

A little paint job. And at the end the result was stunning!

That’s all. Thanks!

The C4 automatic transmission broke down

If you are driving classic you must be ready that one beautiful day your pride will stand in the middle of the street on it’s 4 wheels and refuse to move like a stubborn donkey. And exactly that was happened with me at  last Sunday.

When traffic light turned to green, after pushing the gas pedal, i heard a terrible noise from somewhere near transmission (like someone struck with a sledge hammer). And the transmission started reacting only on position Parking.

That was clear, my journey ended for today…

Nothing has left except call to tow car and take my Falcon to transmission repairing shop of my friends.

After 2 days guys separated the transmission from the car and showed me what exactly happened.

There is a some thing in torque converter called “Turbine Hub” and that thing served his term. All teethеs of the hub were worn out by 90%…

The torque converter. The hub is inside of this thing
Torque converter is opened. The hub is the round thing just in the middle
Turbine hub. You can see that all teeths are gone

Today i have bought a brand new Turbine Hub from Ebay for $19.99 and a new rivets for $0.9 for each.

So, waiting for parts arrival.

Thanks for reading and keep in touch!

Firenze sotto le stelle 2017

From 30 June to 2 July there was an exhibition Firenze sotto le stelle in front of the Pallazzo Pitti in the Florence. So i took my camera and started to shoot the cars.

I will try gradually add a description for every picture, but now just posting what i have shot.

I think the oldest car in this show was this 1907 Itala.

Just pay attention to details…

The car was unbelievably fantastic.

They added some modern stop and turn lights to make this car usable in roads.

This Bentley participated to Eurasia Peace Rally. In this show there were other cars from that rally.

Body work in process

Returned today from body restoration shop with some fresh photos of my camper bus.

Most of things are done. Just a little surface rust remains under the car and in some parts of interior.

Guys claim they will start paint the car at the end of this month. So, will see how things will go.

Still isn’t sure about the color, but i inclined to something bright. Maybe orange, or yellow… Didn’t decide yet
